Recently Mrs. Tara Farr and Mrs. Amberly Kariuki's kindergarten classes went to Cal Ranch  to learn about baby chicks and ducks. This field trip went along with  the unit about Farm Animals that is in the Kindergarten Core Curriculum.  While  there the students learned about how to take care of a chick, what they eat, how  to keep them warm, etc.  They also talked about how they come from eggs just  like dinosaurs do so in a way a dinosaur is just a big chicken! The students  were able to pet the chicks and ducks.

Brockbank's Penny War "Pennies for Pets" was a Success!

Submitted by brenda.johnson on

Brockbank's Penny War, "Pennies for Pets" was a success. Sixth-grade student council members known as "Kid Power" moviated students to bring in their change to help pets by earning money to give to the South Valley Animal Shelter to be used to care for animals and get them ready for adoption. Each grade had a girls can and a boys can. The object of the "penny war" was to get more penny points than the other teams. Pennies were each worth 1 point. There was a catch - if students put anything other than pennies in their can, it subtracted points from their total.
