Brockbank is happy to announce their Hansen Heroes for the month of January.

From first-grade is Erika Garcia from Mrs. Shalese Roger's class. Mrs. Rogers says, "Erika is always a good friend and kind to others. She is a hard worker. You'll never see Erika without a smile on her face. It is a joy to have Erika in our class!"

Tyson Burk is from Mrs. RaDawn Pack's second-grade class. Mrs. Pack says, "Tyson is a responsible, kind, hard working student. He is a great friend to everyone. He always follows the rules and treats everyone with respect."

Principal Hansen gets a "HEART ATTACK!"
Students from Miss Alyson Tobler's class came to the office and gave Mrs. Alison Hansen special Valentine's to put on her door.
 

Jane B. Nelson, representing the Farm Bureau, came to Brockbank Elementary to read "Cattle Kids" by Cat Urbigkit to Mrs. Laurel Koyle's second-grade class. Mrs. Nelson told the students about working on a family cattle ranch. In the book, cowgirls and cowboys take part in many aspects of livestock operations from calving and branding to haying and rounding up the herd. Mrs. Nelson's son, Frank Nelson, showed the students the brand they use on their farm and told them why it is important for the calves to have a brand.

Brockbank Elementary recently celebrated "100 Days of School!" Students celebrated this day in several different ways. First-graders used the number 100 in math skills like counting and place value; they wrote down 100 words that they have learned how to read and write this year; they drew pictures of what they would look like if they were 100 years old; they made cool glasses to wear; and they named 100 things you can eat and 100 things you cannot eat.

Brockbank kindergarteners recently celebrated making it through "100 days of Kindergarten". To celebrate this achievement they had a fun filled day of activities centered around the number 100. They earned an official "100 Day" certificate by completing the following activities; counting 100 objects, taking a 100 step walk, doing 100 exercises, completing 100 seconds of silence (at least tried to), having a 100 day magic trick, discussing what they could eat 100 of, and there was a 100 drops of water test.

Friday, Jan. 29, Brockbank Elementary celebrated not only spirit day but its birthday. Students dressed in their Brockbank t-shirts, navy or maroon, to show their spirit. PTA room mothers brought treats to each class to help them celebrate Brockbank's Birthday! It has been a fun week!

 

On January 21, 2010, approximately 1000 sixth-grade students from across Utah Valley descended onto the BYU campus for an exciting day to be spent with their local sports heroes. Brockbank Elementary made up 57 of the over 1000 student. BYU calls this activity "Sports Hero Day". Its purpose is to provide sixth-grade students the opportunity to interact with BYU athletes, and to observe their positive examples in academics, athletics, and social circumstances up close and personal. The sixth-grade students were given the chance to try many different sports with the college athletes.

To continue with the spirit week dress-up themes, Brockbank students and staff turned back the clock and returned to the 1980's on Thursday, Jan. 28. The students really enjoyed dressing up in clothes that a lot of their parents wore during the 1980's.
 

Spirit Week continues at Brockbank with "Crazy Hair Day". There were some very creative hair dos, both boys and girls alike.
 

Tuesday, January 26, to continue with Brockbank's spirit week activities, Brockbank had a "Swap Day" where students had the opportunity to dress-up like their teachers and the teachers dress-up like students.
