Apple Day in Kindergarten

Submitted by brenda.johnson on

Recently, Kindergarten students at Brockbank Elementary celebrated Apple Day at school. The students participated in several different activities including tasting apples in several different forms; cut in slices, applesauce, pie, and juice; deciding which color of apple they like best, doing math and science activities involving apples, and illustrating their own apple books. It was a fun educational day that the students enjoyed.

Fourth Grade Students Learn About Native Americans

Submitted by brenda.johnson on
On September 10, representatives from Nebo's Title VI Indian Education program came to share a little bit of their culture and contributions with us. They taught us to sing a song using our hands, showed us some of their weavings and baskets, and shared with us many of the words and foods that we still use today that came from the Native Americans hundreds of years ago.

First Grade Students Enjoy Eating Enemy Pie

Submitted by brenda.johnson on

Brockbank first-graders read the book, "Enemy Pie" written by Derek Munson about a boy whose summer is ruined when Jeremy Ross moves in and becomes number one on the enemy list. Fortunately, for the boy his father has a secret recipe for a pie that is guaranteed to help get rid of enemies. While his Dad works on mixing the ingredients and baking the pie, he explains that his son's role in the plan is that he needs to spend a day with his enemy. Even worse, he has to be nice to him.

Hello, Brockank Families!

I hope you had a great weekend! There is a bit of FALL in the air and I hope you will all remember to have your children dress appropriately! We never know if a storm will hit right before the bell rings, or if we will be hot from the warm sunshine!

MAKE A CONNECTION

We are learning more and more that we are losing connections with our youth! With texting, social media and such, we are losing some of the face to face interactions and conversations that are so vital to the development of our children!
