Brockbank Second Graders Learn Importance of Brushing Teeth!

Dental Assistant, Tonya Cherrington from Red Rock Orthodonics came to Brockbank. She talked to second students about taking care of their teeth. She stressed the importance of brushing their teeth at least twice a day and having regular dental check-ups. Mrs. Cherrington along with Danny the Dinosaur showed the students how to brush their teeth the right way and by eating the right foods it can help keep their teeth strong. The students were all given a bag with their very own toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss.

Brockbank Kindergarteners Perform "The Three Little Pigs"

Brockbank kindergarteners in Mrs. Tara Farr's class have been learning about the letters in the alphabet. Recently while learning about the Letter P and since pigs start with the letter P, Mrs. Janet Pyne read the story and then the students put on the play, "The Three Little Pigs". Each student had the opportunity to act out a part either as the wolf or one of the three pigs. It was a fun way to learn about the letter P.

Brockbank Kicks off the Book Fair with Dads and Doughnuts!

Brockbank Elementary held their annual "Dads and Doughnuts" on Friday, October 19. The students, along with their dads, moms, grandparents, or other special family members were able to come and browse for books through the book fair and then enjoy doughnuts, juice or milk. Brockbank students and faculty would like to thank the PTA for sponsoring this fun morning.

Brockbank Red Ribbon Week, "Play Hard, Play Clean!"

Red Ribbon Week continues at Brockbank. On Thursday, October 18, it was "Play Hard, Play Clean!" The students learned how important it is to remember to stay healthy and stay active, physically and mentally. A healthy mind is less likely to take drugs! For a fun activity some of the Spanish Fork High School football players and cheerleaders came to Brockbank during their lunch hour to play with students. Some of the high school students attended elementary school at Brockbank!

Red Ribbon Week,"Brockbank Students Stand United Against Violence!"

Wednesday, October 17, for Red Ribbon Week students wore purple to represent that, "Brockbank Students Stand United Against Violence". Teachers reinforced the importance to students of being violence free. Thanks to everyone who helped or donated items to make our Red Ribbon Week a success. Teachers have been able to hold classroom drawings each day for lucky students wearing their red bracelets to win a fun gift.

Brockbank Red Ribbon Week "Our School Is Proud to Be Drug Free!"

Tuesday, October 16, Red Ribbon Week continues at Brockbank with students encouraged to wear red. The theme for the day was "Our school is proud to be Drug Free!" Magician Paul Brewer came to Brockbank and put on a fun assembly for the students. He did several magic tricks using different students to help him. He told the students to keep their friends close and help each other make good choices, He encouraged the students to stay drug free! It was a fun assembly and the students really enjoyed it!

Brockbank Sixth-Graders Enjoy Serving on Student Council Committees

Our sixth grade students love the opportunity of serving on student council. Each year, every student that wants to can participate in student council. There are five committees - Literacy Committee, School Spirit Committee, Food Drive Committee, Kid Power Committee, and Character Education Committee. Students name the top 3 committees they'd like to serve on, then 6th grade teachers divide up the students accordingly. Each committee elects a president and vice president and these ten students participate in the Student Council Leadership Conference at BYU each Fall.

Brockbank's Red Ribbon Week "United We Stand Against Drugs!"

October 15-19, 2012 is Red Ribbon Week at Brockbank Elementary. Many exciting events have been planned for the week. Monday, Oct. 15, was "United We Stand Against Drugs!" The students were given a red yarn bracelet to wear all week and pledge to stay drug free. Daily prizes will be given but to be included in the drawings the student has to have their bracelet on. Students also made posters in their classrooms that will be hung in the lunchroom pledging to be drug free.

Brockbank's Book Fair is Coming Soon!

Brockbank is excited about our upcoming Book Fair which will kick off this Friday, October 19 with our annual Dad's and Donuts! Make sure to bring your "superstars" (dad, mom, grandpa, grandma or any special family member) on Friday morning from 8 - 8:40 AM to browse through the book fair and enjoy donuts and milk. The book fair will run the following week Oct. 22 - 25 before school, during lunch, and after school and all evening Thursday night during SEP conferences. The book fair will close Thursday evening.

Brockbank Staff Spotlights

Brockbank's staff spotlights this week are Mrs. Sheryl Wilson and Mrs. Patricia Richardson. Mrs. Sheryl Wilson works with students in our STAR tutor program. Sheryl and her husband live in Springville, they have two sons, two daughters and fifteen grandchildren. Sheryl likes spending her time with her family and since retiring from teaching she enjoys dancing with the group Jean's Golden Girls. Some of her favorites are chocolate, Bar J Wranglers, Mary Higgins Clark books, the movie "The Pelican Brief", eating at Cafe Rio, and watching football.
