Veterans Visit Brockbank!
Brockbank Elementary had some very special visitors come to our school to honor Veteran's Day. We are so proud of all of our veterans and enjoy having them come and talk to us each year. The program consisted of the fifth-grade students singing a patriotic song, a slide show presentation, and each of the veterans introducing themselves and talking to the students. It was a very touching assembly reminding us all why veterans are so important and about all the sacrifices that they have made for us so that we can be free.
Brockbank Fourth-Graders Perform a Play!
Recently, Mrs. Larina Quispe's class has been learning about theater. Nebo School District Drama Specialist, Mrs. Lisa Bean came and helped the students get started. She held auditions and cast the students in the roles that they would be playing. Students worked hard getting ready to perform their play for their family and friends. The script was from the book, "The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything" by Linda Williams. The students did an excellent job and had a great time performing their play!
Brockbank Sixth-Graders Learn About Ancient Egypt
The week of October 5 - 10, the sixth-grade learned about the pyramids. We learned about who, what, and why the pyramids are there. We even learned about the mysterious King Tut. One fun activity was we got to create our own sarcophagus out of paper. We used metallic paints to make them dazzling and bright. We also used oil pastels to create their amazing masks. Another activity we had fun with was mummifying a poor little stuffed animal! We took out all the stuffing and made them smell like disgusting dead people.
