Brockbank Holds Annual Walk-A-Thon Fundraiser

Submitted by brenda.johnson on

Brockbank PTA along with Brockbank faculty recently held their fifth annual walk-a-thon fundraiser. It was a great success with lots of support from the students and parents. Students, along with many of their parents, walked laps around a track set up on the grass field as a way to exercise and raise money for the school. The funds will purchase projectors and document cameras for classrooms. The school currently has three classrooms set up with projectors and document cameras, and their goal is to equip every classroom with those items.

We have four new teachers; Mrs. Kellie Brandley is teaching first grade, Miss Brittany Nye is teaching second grade, Mrs. Louise Crook is teaching fourth grade, and Mrs. Eileen Oxborrow is teaching reading recovery. Mrs.Betty Baadsgaard will be teaching PE and Miss Kaylene Polley is our new speech therapist for preschool. Brockbank also has two new grandma aids this year - Mrs. Cleo Cox in Mrs. Lisa Bird's first-grade class and Mrs. Ruth Dahl in Mrs. Tara Farr's kindergarten class.

Brockbank Students Enjoy New Playground

Submitted by brenda.johnson on

Brockbank students are excited to break-in a brand new playground! Back in the summer of 2009 Nebo District Patrons passed a bond and a portion of the bond money was set aside for improvements on existing schools. Brockbank's south playground was one of the first things on the list for improvement and students were thrilled with the news (teachers, too!). Throughout the 2009-10 school year, Brockbank's Staff, PTA, and Community Council reviewed proposals from various vendors and selected one that had all the components we were looking for. The new playground was installed in July.

Brockbank First-Graders Show Off Their "Grass Person"

Submitted by brenda.johnson on

Brockbank first-grade students learned about seeds and plants in class. They had the opportunity to plant seeds in cups and grow "hair" for their own "grass person". The student's cups are left at school for the students to make sure they have water and sunlight. After two weeks their "grass person" had long green hair. Before taking them home some of the students gave their "grass person" a hair cut. It was a fun way to learn about how seeds grow!

Brockbank Sixth-Graders Hold Their Graduation from Elementary School

Submitted by brenda.johnson on

Brockbank Elementary recently held graduation for all sixth-graders advancing to Junior High School. Family and friends were invited to join the students in a fun evening showcasing the school year. After the students shared their singing talents, a slide show was shown of activities throughout the past year. Then after receiving their diplomas, and being introduced by their teacher, each of the sixth-graders told the audience a favorite memory from sixth-grade or their time at Brockbank Elementary.
