Brockbank Elementary Students Help Make "Project Teddy Bear" a Success!

The Bank of American Fork's annual "Project Teddy Bear" ended with great success. Spanish Fork High School's Letterman Club invited Brockbank Elementary and Canyon Elementary to join with them and the Bank of American Fork in collecting stuffed animals for at-risk children in local treatment centers. Students brought in new or gently used stuffed animals to help in this cause. 1,452 stuffed animals were collected by the three schools and taken to the Bank of American Fork.

Brockbank First-Graders Enjoy Polar Express Day!

Brockbank Elementary first-graders celebrated the holiday season by having a Polar Express Day on Thursday, December 20. They earned this day by meeting their classroom reading goals. Each first-grade class had to fill their Polar Express train car and in order to accomplish this, each student had to read at least six books. As a reward for meeting this goal, students got to wear pajamas to school; make Polar Express trains out of HoHo's, starlight mints, and chocolate bells; make engineer hats out of paper; and received a bell to wear.

Brockbank Second-Graders Decorate Gingerbread Houses!

Second-grade students at Brockbank Elementary celebrated the Christmas season by presenting a special program on Thursday, December 20, to their parents and grandparents. The students enjoyed entertaining their families by singing several Christmas songs. After the program, the students and their parents returned to their classroom to decorate gingerbread houses. It was a fun day!

Brockbank Staff Spotlight!

This weeks Brockbank staff spotlights are Mrs. Martha Heward and Mrs. Frances Dyches. Mrs. Martha Heward is the ESL (English as a Second Language) technician here at Brockbank. She and her husband live in Spanish Fork. They have two sons, both of which have or currently attend Brockbank. Martha likes simple crafts, scrapbooking, but most of all playing and spending time with her family. Some of her favorites are the color blue, chocolate candy, chocolate malts, the book, "Rikki Tikki Tembo", chick flick movies, volleyball, and BYU. Martha's favorite vacation destination is to Wyoming!

Santa Visits Brockbank!

Brockbank Elementary had a very special visitor on Wednesday, December 19, Santa Claus came to visit! The students were very excited to see Santa and to be able to tell him what they wanted for Christmas!

Brockbank Student Picks His Grandpa as His Wax Museum Spotlight!

Fifth-grade students at Brockbank Elementary recently held their annual wax museum and while most students picked people like Daniel Boone, Thomas Edison, Shirley Temple, etc...(all great people), one student picked his grandpa as his famous person in American history. Garrett Dedrickson choose to spotlight his grandpa, Colonel Walter T. Stewart. Colonel Stewart is a local World War ll veteran, best known for leading the 93rd Bombardment Group on the low-level bombing mission of the oil refineries in Ploesti, Romania during Operation "Tidal Wave" on August 1, 1943.

Brockbank Third-Graders and Kindergarteners Work Together!

Third-grade students in Mrs. Carolyn Creer's class, once a week, go into Mrs. Tara Farr's kindergarten class and help the students. Each kindergarten student gets a third-grade buddy to work with, whether it be reading to each other, practicing flash cards, or just helping the student with whatever they are working on. Whenever there is a holiday, or at least once a month, the students get to do a fun activity together. On December 14, they got to make Christmas trees made out of ice cream cones, covered with frosting, and decorated with candy.

Brockbank Third Graders Perform Christmas Program!

Brockbank third-grade students have been filling the halls of the school with cheery Christmas music. On Thursday, December 13, the third-grade classes put on a Christmas program for the rest of the students and then that evening for their parents and families to enjoy. It is a great way to get in the Christmas spirit. The students did a great job!
