Brockbank is happy to announce their Hansen Heroes for the month of November.

From first grade is Katelyn Gappmayer from Mrs. Marcy Noorda's class. Mrs. Noorda says, "Katelyn is a great example to our class. She is very helpful and always on task. It is a joy to have her in class."

Zach Preece is from Mrs. RaDawn Pack's second-grade class. Mrs. Pack says, "Zach is always trying his hardest to do his best at school. He obeys the rules, works hard, and is a friend to everyone."

Brockbank third graders were thrilled to receive dictionaries donated by Central Bank this week. Glen Roach, pictured here with Mrs. Moon's third-grade class, is a part of the Spanish Fork Rotary Club who has a goal of placing a dictionary in the hands of every third grade student. Each student put his/her name in the dictionary and is encouraged to use it during classwork and also at home. Mr. Roach has sponsored Brockbank Elementary for several years and we appreciate his continued support of our students.

Mrs. Shelley Thomas' kindergarten class recently held a teddy bear picnic. They read the book, "Brown Brown Bear" and then made their own books to read to their teddy bears. They got to sit on the floor and have a treat while reading to their bear. It was a fun day and the students really enjoyed bringing their bears to school.

To go along with the recently held food drive and to help motivate students to bring in food, there was a contest where the class that brought in the most food, that teacher would get a pie in the face. It was such a close contest that student council members, who sponsored the event, decided to also include the second place class' teacher a pie in the face. Lucky teachers and good sports were, first place kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Tara Farr, and second place fourth-grade teacher, Mr. Terry Oyler. On November 24, in front of their classes, Mrs. Farr and Mr.

Brockbank recently got in the holiday spirit by holding their annual food drive. The student council sponsored the drive and worked hard to get all the students excited about it. To help get the students motivated, there was a contest where whichever class brought in the most cans, the teacher of that class would get a pie in the face. Mrs. Tara Farr's kindergarten classes brought in the most food, with Mr. Terry Oyler's class a close second, so on Tuesday afternoon, November 24, Mrs. Farr and Mr. Oyler both got pie in their face. Brockbank fifth-grade students recently completed their D.A.R.E. program taught by Officer Bryan DeWitt. The students learned several lessons about drugs and ways to avoid the many influences in their lives that might lead them down dangerous paths. One of the fun activities fifth-graders got to do was to see Officer DeWitt's patrol car and see all the equipment that he uses to do his job. He showed them how some of it worked and how he uses it. Students have really learned a lot this year and are looking forward to graduating from D.A.R.E.

Brockbank first-graders learned about the first Thanksgiving by making colored bead bracelets and retelling the story of how the Pilgrims came to America. Each bead in the bracelet represented a part of the story.

Recently Mrs. Sally Nelson's fifth-grade class celebrated a "Colonial Day" after studying about the original Thirteen English Colonies of North America. During the day, students participated in many "colonial-type" activities including making bread and butter, dipping candles, writing with feather pens, participating in a spelling bee, and doing 'rithmetic sitting in rows without the use of a desk. They also made hornbooks and played colonial games like marbles and hoop games.
