Brockbank Second-Graders Celebrate a Native American Day!

Submitted by brenda.johnson on
Brockbank second-graders celebrated a Native American Day. They learned about the first Thanksgiving and about the life of the Indians and Pilgrims. Mrs. Kristel Peterson's class learned about the importance of corn, how it was grown, dried and used. Pictured are students from Mrs. Peterson's class, "gathered by the river". Jose Garcia-Maldonado is holding the stone by the authentic metate (a mortar ground stone tool used for processing grains and seeds) that was found locally to grind up the corn. It was a very educational experience and the students really learned a lot.
