Shelley Thomas is this year's recipient of the Crystal Apple Award. This is a special award because teachers vote on who should receive the award at each school - it is always humbling to be recognized by peers.

Shelley has been a teacher for 24 years. She began her career in Virginia where she taught for 7 years and has continued here in Utah for 17 more. Shelley has taught primarily Special Education during her years, but has taught regular education as well. She is certified in both areas. Whether it be a Special Education preschool, a Special Education resource class, a Special Education cluster unit or a regular education classroom, Shelley is extremely talented at helping each student receive his/her potential. She works diligently to find the best curriculum match for each student and is gifted at helping each student find success. She truly embraces what it means to differentiate her curriculum.Shelley is a fabulous staff member. She truly cares about her technicians she works hand-in-hand with each day as well as other faculty members. She has served as the UEA representative for several years. Other teachers view Shelley as someone who will pitch in and get the job done, whatever job that might be. She is a valued asset on Brockbank's staff.
Shelley and her husband, Jim live in Spanish Fork. Shelley has four children and 3 grandchildren.

Congratulations, Shelley, on a job well done! We love working with you!!
