Brockbank Students Share Ways to Cook a Turkey!

Submitted by brenda.johnson on

Brockbank Elementary is happy to share some fun ways on "How to Cook a Turkey" according to kindergarteners and second graders. Students from both grades had a writing assignment with that prompt. Creative writing lets the students use their imagination with no prompting from the teacher as far as content. Second grade students were able to write their own ideas; kindergarten students scribed their ideas to their teacher. Below is some ideas of "How to Cook a Turkey" by Brockbank second grade and kindergarten students in their own words or writing:

Brockbank First-Graders Make Vegetable Soup!

Submitted by brenda.johnson on

Brockbank first-graders in Mrs. Lisa Bird's class recently read the book, "Growing Vegetable Soup". The students then got the opportunity to make their own soup. One of the most important things they learned when getting ready to make the soup was that you need to make sure and wash your hands with soap and water. When it was their turn to help the students were told to recite the alphabet to themselves while washing their hands. The students learned how important it is not to spread germs so they wore gloves on their hands and hats to cover their hair.

Veterans Visit Brockbank

Brockbank Elementary had some very special visitors come to our school for Veteran's Day. We are so proud of all of our veterans and enjoy having them come and talk to us each year. First Captain Keir Scoubes of the Utah National Guard talked to the students and reminded them why the veterans are so important to us and about all the sacrifices that they have made for us so that we can be free. Several of the veterans have grandchildren or great-grandchildren that attend our school.

Brockbank First-Graders Visit the Firestation!

Recently Brockbank first-graders went on field trip and walked to the fire station. Fireman Ryan Baum, who is also first-grader Kaleb Baum's dad, gave the first-graders the tour along with fireman Pat Sorensen. They showed the students the fire engine and fireman's equipment. Ryan put on the firefighter suit that he wears to fires and told the students if there ever was a fire in their house that the most important thing is not to be afraid and hide under the bed. Firemen are their friends and are there to help them.

Brockbank's Lisa Muirbrook Receives Crystal Apple

Brockbank Elementary is very proud to have Lisa Muirbrook as our Crystal Apple recipient. Lisa is a wonderful teacher. She believes that every student should be given the right to learn all that they can. As a teacher she provides them with the structure and knowledge that they need to succeed. She makes them feel important and needed. Lisa is also very kind and helpful to staff and teachers alike. She is very willing to volunteer help when needed. The third-grade team looks up to her when they have computer problems, need help with math, and to teach the classes songs for their programs.
