Brockbank Sixth-Graders Enjoy Serving on Student Council Committees

Submitted by brenda.johnson on
Our sixth grade students love the opportunity of serving on student council. Each year, every student that wants to can participate in student council. There are five committees - Literacy Committee, School Spirit Committee, Food Drive Committee, Kid Power Committee, and Character Education Committee. Students name the top 3 committees they'd like to serve on, then 6th grade teachers divide up the students accordingly. Each committee elects a president and vice president and these ten students participate in the Student Council Leadership Conference at BYU each Fall.

Brockbank Holds Monthly Safety Drills

Submitted by brenda.johnson on

Each month, Brockbank students and staff hold a safety drill. Most often, that drill is a fire drill. Students evacuate the building, line up along the West fence, and teachers account for each student to make sure everybody got out safely. Any students in specialty classes (such as reading tutoring, speech, resource, computers, art, PE, etc.) would go outside with the adult they were currently with and report to their regular classroom teacher once outside. We also hold drills where students stay inside the building. These drills are our earthquake drills and lockdown drills.
