Brockbank Participated in the Great Utah Shake Out

Submitted by brenda.johnson on
Brockbank Elementary participated Thursday, April 20, in the "Great Utah Shake Out" that was held throughout Utah, by holding a school wide earthquake drill. The purpose is to make sure everyone is ready if a big earthquake hits the Wasatch Front. Brockbank believes it is important to be ready by having monthly fire, earthquake, or lockdown drills throughout the year. It is important to know what to do if anything were to happen, we want our staff and students to be prepared.

Aquarium Representatives Visit Fourth Grade Students

Submitted by brenda.johnson on

Recently the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium came and visited the fourth grade. We learned about habitats and structures and functions and played a guess who game to guess the plant. We also got to meet Newman the tiger salamander and Cleo the king snake. Some were even brave enough to pet it!

Second Grade Students Learn About Their Community

Submitted by brenda.johnson on
Second grade is currently learning about the community they live in from their Social Studies Unit. Community helpers came to visit and talk about what they do for a career/ job. They let the students know about what types of skills taught at school that they need for that type of career. Scott Andersen (Willow's dad) talked about being a construction worker, Russ Jensen (Cora's dad) talked about fire safety and what it takes to be a fireman, and Jesse Draper (Morgan's dad) talked about what it is to be a commercial plumber. We want to thank them for coming to talk to the students!
