Brockbank fourth-graders went on a field trip to, This Is The Place Heritage Park. There students were able to take part in a ‘hands-on learning’ experience that complements the state curriculum for fourth-grade Utah History. Students participated in "life in Pioneer Times" which consisted of pushing a handcart. The students discovered what it was like to come West with a handcart. They also got to experience being in a pioneer school where they learned about the Deseret Alphabet, how to mind their manners, and that they better come to school on time, or they may find themselves wearing the dunce cap. They got to ride the train around the park and visit the Saddlery, where a skilled leather worker explained how a deer or cow hide becomes a fine leather pouch or a saddle. It was a fun field trip and the students really enjoyed it!
