Brockbank Staff Spotlights!

Submitted by brenda.johnson on
This weeks staff spotlights are Mrs. Amberly Kariuki and Mrs. Earline Holley. Mrs. Amberly Kariuki teaches kindergarten at Brockbank. She and her husband live in Provo and have one adorable little girl. Amberly likes movies, plays, and reading. She said she wishes she could cook and sew. Some of her favorites are the color purple, peanut M&M's, any chewy candy, pizza, Dr. Pepper, all kinds of music, mystery books, romantic comedies, and eating at Cafe Rio and Two Jack's. Amberly doesn't really know where her favorite vacation destination would be and said the only sport she watches is soccer (mostly her husband watches it). Something no one knows about Amberly is that one day recently she was getting fuel at Costco and must have accidentally hit the lock button because after fueling her car she went to get back inside and the door was locked. It was bad enough for her that there was a line of cars waiting their turn to get fuel but that wasn't the worst part, her 2 year old daughter was in her car seat in the car. Amberly had to call the police to come and unlock her car for her. She was so embarrassed! She said after the police officer unlocked her car, she hopped in, didn't make any eye contact with anybody waiting in her line for gas, and sped away. Amberly has been teaching kindergarten at Brockbank for the past 8 years and before coming to Brockbank she taught kindergarten one year in Nephi. Amberly is such a sweet person and her students love her! She is a great friend to everyone! Mrs. Earline Holley is a foster grandma at Brockbank. She is a widow and lives in Spanish Fork. Earline has one son, one daughter, two granddaughters, two grandsons, two great-granddaughters (one of which is in kindergarten here at Brockbank), and one great-grandson. She likes quilting, crafts, jewelry, reading romance novels, making fudge, and scrapbooking (she has made a scrapbook for all of her kids, grandkids, and is now making one for her great-grandkids). Some of Earline's favorites are peppermints, 7-Up, shrimp, the song, "Stars & Stripes", the movie, "Bambi", watching her grandkids play sports, and watching the Utah Jazz. Something no one knows about Earline is that she is a big bargain shopper, she can't pass up a good deal and usually buys it whether she needs it or not. She also loves having her great-granddaughters come to her house, making cupcakes, and letting them decorate them (she always did that with her grandkids too). Earline has been a foster grandma at Brockbank for the past 12 years, 10 of those years she was in first grade classes and she is currently on her second year as a foster grandma in Mrs. Amberly Kariuki's kindergarten class and her first full year in Miss Alyson Tobler's class. Brockbank is so lucky to have so many foster grandmas and we are glad Earline is one of them!
