Brockbank Sixth-Grade Student Council Helps Make Book Fair Kick Off a Success!

The kick off to the annual "Grand Morning" Book Fair was a big success! Thanks to the PTA, help from all of our great adult helpers, and with the big help of our sixth-grade student council members. Student council members helped set up, helped parents and grandparents find books, and answered questions during the book fair. They also helped serve the donuts and milk. Mrs. Melin Fisk, book fair coordinator, commented on what a great help the students were in making the book fair run smoothly.

Brockbank PTA Hosts "Dad's and Doughnuts Grand Event"

Brockbank Elementary held their "Dad's and Doughnuts Grand Event" on Friday, March 8. It was the kick-off for the annual spring book fair hosted by the PTA. The students, along with their dads, moms, grandparents, or other special family members were able to come and browse for books through the book fair and then enjoy doughnuts and milk. Thank you to the PTA for sponsoring this fun morning!

The book fair will be open March 11-14, before school, during lunch, and after school. Thursday, March 14 it will be open until 8 pm during SEP conferences.

Brockbank Students Benefit from LIA Program!

Brockbank students benefit from LIA program at the Spanish Fork High School. LIA is Latinos in Action which is a class designed to provide Hispanic students the way to develop leadership, citizenship, and mentoring skills. LIA students are taught writing and reading skills, resume development, bilingual speaking, work ethics and responsibilty, time management, goal setting, team work and cooperation, problem and decision making, and community involement.

Brockbank First Graders Read, "The Cat in the Hat"

Brockbank first grade students for Dr. Seuss' Birthday along with other activites, read the book, "The Cat in the Hat". After reading the book they were asked, "What would you do if the Cat in the Hat came to your house?" The students then for their writing assignment wrote down what they would do. There were some very interesting responses. It was a fun way to learn!

Brockbank Third-Grade Spelling Bee Winners!

Tuesday, March 5, Brockbank Elementary third-graders held their Spelling Bee. The spelling bee is held in conjunction with the Spanish Fork Rotary Club and their donation of a dictionary for every third-grade student. Glen Roach, a member of the Spanish Fork Rotary Club and representative of Central Bank donated the dictionaries to Brockbank third-grade students in the fall. Spelling bees were held in the individual classrooms during the month of February and the top five winners from each class competed with each other to determine a winner. Classroom winners were from Mrs.

Brockbank Students Enjoy Buddy Read-A-Thon in Honor of Dr. Seuss' Birthday!

On March 1, Brockbank Elementary celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday by doing several art and reading activities throughout the day. At the end of the day students enjoyed a buddy read-a-thon where younger grade students were matched with older grade students. Celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday is a great way to get students motivated and excited to read!

Dr. Seuss' birthday was Saturday, March 2, Brockbank celebrated his birthday on March 1. The theme for the day was the Dr.Seuss book, "Oh, The Places You'll Go". Fun activities were planned to celebrate reading. Also to go along with the theme, students dressed up in clothes which reflected what they want to be when they grow up. "Congratulations!
