Brockbank Students Love Our School Counselor!

Brockbank students love our school counselor, Mrs. Terri Jensen! She is very important in the lives of the students at Brockbank. She teaches life skills lessons in each class about once a month.  This helps students know what to do when they need to face certain situations in life.  It also  lets every student know that it is natural and okay to talk with the counselor. The counselors office is right by the front door so it is easy for students to see her and visit with her.

Mrs. Jensen also provides support for individual students.  If something is not going right for them it is is a good time to get new ideas.  She helps kids get new ideas to get things working well for them.  Her main task is to help children succeed in school.  Sometimes that includes helping them through home issues that maybe distracting them.

Mrs. Jensen is a leader in our school wide character education program, "Marva & Jessie". Brockbank has five assemblies throughout the year to teach good character ed to the students. The teachers act out the parts and are fantastic actors and actresses. The music teacher teaches the students songs about the current topic before the assemblies and the student council does the technical support. This year’s topics are: Friendship, Patriotism, Conflict Resolution, Self-Confidence,and Hard Work.

Mrs. Jensen monitors the Buddy Box, an anonymous reporting system for someone needing help. She also heads up our "Kid Power" student council. Her motto is "Kids can make a difference in the world."  She helps the students choose a cause and make plans of how they can support that cause and celebrate their successes.  Last year our student body of 570 raised over $2000 to support the  Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  In the past they have chosen to support American Cancer Society, Huntsman Center, and the South Valley Animal Shelter.

Brockbank is very lucky to have such a wonderful school counselor!
