Brockbank First-Graders Read, "Turkey Trouble"

Submitted by brenda.johnson on

Brockbank first-graders recently finished reading the book, "Turkey Trouble" written by Wendi J. Silvano. In the story a turkey is in trouble, bad trouble, it is almost Thanksgiving and he is the main course. Farmer Jake is looking for him. Turkey has an idea what if he doesn't look like a turkey? What if he looks like another animal instead? First-graders then got to use their imaginations and pick a disguise for Turkey so Farmer Jake won't recognize him.

Sadie Hathaway picked lettuce for her Turkey. She said on her paper, "I could be lettuce. I could do nothing. Crunch, Crunch," said the Turkey. "Oh!" said the farmer. "It must be lettuce."

Ella Crandall picked a tomato for her Turkey. She said, "I could be a tomato. I could plump, plump. Splash, Splash" said the Turkey. "Oh!" said the farmer. "It must be a tomato."

JD Herbst picked a dog for his Turkey. He said, "I could be a dog. I could run. Ruff, Ruff" said the Turkey. "Oh!" said the farmer. "It must be a dog."

Cole Sorensen picked a farmer for his turkey. He said, "I could be a farmer. I could get in the tractor. "Howdy, Howdy" said the Turkey. "Oh!" said the farmer. "It must be a farmer."
