HELLO, BROCKBANK FAMILIES!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I want to wish each of you a very Happy New Year and hope that this year brings your family
joy and happiness! This is a great time of year to sit with your child and make new goals! We
are talking to the students about making small goals that will lead to bigger goals! For
example, if your child wanted a better grade in math, he/she could practice with IReady each
night, work on perfecting assignments, review flashcards, and finish all his/her work. All of these goals will help him/her get a better math grade. Setting small goals will help your child reach the big goals!

QUARTER WARS!
KID POWER HOSTS FUNDRAISER FOR SHRINERS HOSPITAL
This year the students of Brockbank Elementary would like to use their power to make a
difference in the world. Shriners Hospitals serve children with medical needs regardless of
their ability to pay.
We are having a “Quarter War”. This means that students are encouraged to bring money for
our fundraiser. All quarters take away points from a team. All other money adds points to a
team. For example, students can put dollars in their grade’s can, which will give them points,
and quarters in the other grade’s cans to take points. We will have a friendly competition
between grades to see who can raise the most money to help. We will receive donations Jan
11- 29th.
Week 1= The grade with the heaviest can will earn their choice of a “Just Dance” Party or a
flour bomb war.
Week 2 = The grade with the most weight gained in their can will win a popcorn party.

Week 3 = The grade with the most points will earn a “surprise” party.
Quarter = - 25                                                                                                                            Dollar = +1.00 etc.

We encourage your child to find ways to earn money and donate to help another child. It is good for children to see themselves as a “GIVER” as someone who has something to offer and makes something happen. Please help your student participate in this opportunity.

HELP US HELP CHILDREN!!!!

SEP CONFERENCES
SEP Conferences will be Thursday, January 14th. They will be held via ZOOM again and we will
be using the same schedule from the Fall Conferences. A reminder note will be sent to you
and if you are unable to make that appointment, please let your child's teacher know.
Our teachers will be sending packets home that include your child's work and progress report
for you to look through. Please make note of any questions or concerns you have from these
packets.
We look forward to celebrate your child's accomplishments with you!

LOVE AND LOGIC PARENTING WORKSHOP

Nebo School District is presenting a Love and Logic Parenting Workshop! This will be online-
via ZOOM! The workshops will be January 12th, 19th and 26th, from 6:00-7:30. There is more information on the attachment given.

A FEW REMINDERS
*We are having quite a number of students that are forgetting their masks. Please make sure
your child has a clean, cloth mask each day when he/she comes to school.
*Please remember that if you bring lunch to your child that you need to bring lunch just for
your child. With this pandemic, we cannot share pizza, or other lunches.
*Please have your child only bring water in his/her water bottle. Please do not send juice, pop,
or Gatorade.

STUDENT SAFETY
Thank you, parents, for following the laws and for driving slowly and carefully when picking up
your child. I see parents slowing down and being considerate of other drivers while picking up
students

Please also be aware of the following:
*Please do not flip a U-Turn on 300 West. In the morning or afternoon, there are too many students that are walking and crossing the streets, and too many parents driving in and out of the school grounds, that this is an unsafe practice. Please follow the laws!

*Please cross at the intersections and do not have your child cross with you in the middle of
the road. Please be an example of safety!
*If you park in the parking lot, please get out of your car and go and wait for your child so
he/she is not crossing alone in front of buses and cars.
