One of Brockbank Elementary’s top academic sixth-grade students, Kaylee Hales is a great example of what a student of the week should be.

She is a very responsible, motivated and passionate student who looks for ways to be of service. You will often find her helping as a council member on our School Spirit Committee, especially at school assemblies, where she’s organizing, leading and conducting the events.

Many teachers of younger grades still remember having her as a helper, and she currently partner reads in a special class of students who need support in literacy. Our school has a “buddy bench” where students can go if they are feeling left out at recess. Kaylee is among a group of students who show good character where they have taken it upon themselves to watch over students who are sitting on the buddy bench and make those younger students in our school community feel that they matter.

Kaylee’s hobbies include reading, all areas of dance, playing softball and continuing on with three years of piano lessons so far. When asked about her future dreams, she sees herself at Brigham Young University as a Cougarette and eventually sharing her love of dance as a youth dance teacher.

One notable achievement for Kaylee is that she single-handedly requested to plan and put on a surprise baby shower for her student teacher. Unbeknownst to her mother and her teacher, Kaylee had already spent the time and researched baby shower games and decorations (along with food) and was ready to look for volunteers to help make this shower happen. She obviously already knows the value of motivating others and delegating, which is the mark of a great leader.

Kaylee comes to school every day with a smile, an excitement for learning, and a dedication for going above and beyond. Kaylee pays close attention to details and makes sure that her daily work is accurate and of the utmost quality. Kaylee is a model student who sets a positive example for her peers.

She works hard to help her peers as well. She is dedicated to helping her classmates succeed and grow in every way. Kaylee is a wonderful young lady who will continue to excel academically and socially in the years to come.

We at Brockbank Elementary are thrilled Kaylee has been chosen as the student of the week!
