Brockbank fifth-grade students learning Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) training taught by Officer Clint Peterson of the Spanish Fork Police Department, recently got to participate in an activity. The activity was on the potential dangers of being intoxicated and it's effects on the person's reflects, judgement, and overall ability to do simple tasks. The students were given goggles to wear that simulate being under the influence and asked to ride a scooter through cones, kick, and throw a ball. It was a great activity enforcing what they are learning in class.

Friday, September 28, the entire sixth-grade participated in a Battle of the Greek Gods. This was an all-day activity at Swenson park where the students rotated and participated in many team-building activities. Each rotation included a task that required students to use strategies and work together to solve a problem. Brockbank sixth-grade teachers and students want to thank all the parents for their support and help! The students could not have had such a great experience without them!

Recently, Kindergarten students at Brockbank Elementary celebrated Apple Day at school. The students participated in several different activities including tasting apples in several different forms; cut in slices, applesauce, pie, and juice; deciding which color of apple they like best, doing math and science activities involving apples, and illustrating their own apple books. Hello, Brockbank Families!

Thanks so much for your help and patience as we kept our children in because of the poor air quality.  It was hard for the students to stay inside for those few days and we were so grateful to be able to go outside towards the end of the week.  Please be assured that we will continue to watch the quality alerts!

Hello, Brockbank Families!

We had quite a week last week with the booming fires!  We appreciate your patience as we worked to keep your child safe with the poor air quality conditions. We will continue to keep tabs on the air quality and will take precautions with letting your child go outside for recess and other activities.

Minimal Day:   Today was our minimal day.   This is a time where our teachers received important instruction and were given time to work on required assignments from the District.  We so appreciate your support with this valuable day for teachers!

Brockbank first-graders read the book, "Enemy Pie" written by Derek Munson about a boy whose summer is ruined when Jeremy Ross moves in and becomes number one on the enemy list. Fortunately, for the boy his father has a secret recipe for a pie that is guaranteed to help get rid of enemies. While his Dad works on mixing the ingredients and baking the pie, he explains that his son's role in the plan is that he needs to spend a day with his enemy. Even worse, he has to be nice to him. It sounds tough, but the boy decides to give it a try.

Hello, Brockbank Families!

Today was our first BFF activity!  BFF stands for Brockbank Friends and Family!  Once a month we participate in our BFF Groups, where the students are placed in multi-aged groups and we discuss lots of life-skill type activities.  This year we are focusing on being a Leader of our Own Learning!  Our hope is that our students will learn that they need to take responsibility for their learning and their goals!  Ask your child about the activities that we did today, as well as what our sunrise and our path means to our students!
