Brockbank Holds Annual Food Drive

Submitted by brenda.johnson on

Brockbank Elementary recently completed their annual food drive. Usually the food drive is held before the holidays but this year Brockbank decided to have it in January. After talking to local food banks, they say this time of year food is especially in need because after Christmas they have a hard time building back up their supplies and there is significant need with all the cold, winter weather we have been having. The student council sponsored the drive and worked hard to get all the students excited about it.

Brockbank's Speech Teacher, Mrs. Susan Johnson, helped to start and supervise an after school tennis program again this year. Mrs. Johnson has over 30 years of tennis experience and wanted to give the students something else to do inside during the winter months. Thanks to the United States Tennis Association that generously donated junior size tennis nets, foam balls, and rackets last year, and with the help of volunteers, she was able to again this year give students the opportunity to learn the basic fundamentals of tennis.
