Brockbank Sixth Graders Participate in Science Fair

Brockbank sixth-graders recently participated in a science fair. Students learned about the scientific process and were then challenged to go home and conduct an experiment that answered a scientific question. The sixth-grade teachers were amazed at the quality of work done by the students. The students worked really hard on their projects. Parents and students from younger grades had the opportunity to go into the gym and look at the projects and ask questions.

Brockbank Fourth Graders Enjoy Living Planet Aquarium Outreach Program

Monday, February 3, Brockbank had two representatives from the Utah Water Van program come to visit. The Utah Water Van is an educational outreach program about Utah's wetlands and is offered by The Living Planet Aquarium to fourth-grade students throughout Utah. Fourth-grade students are allowed through the use of models, to see and better understand the importance of Utah's wetlands and about some of Utah's native wetland plants and animals. Students got to see a toad, lizard, salamander and a snake that are found in wetlands.

Former Students Job Shadow at Brockbank

Friday, February 7, the junior high schools held their job shadow day. Seventh-graders had the opportunity to go to work with a parent or someone and job shadow them for the day. Brockbank was lucky to have several students come to our school and do their job shadow. McKinley Harrison and Averi Higginson from Spanish Fork Junior High came and helped in the office at Brockbank. Luke Jensen came and helped his mom, Mrs. Rebecca Jensen in computers, Kylee Crook helped her mom, Mrs. Louise Crook in second grade, Allison Wilson and Jentri Rozmea helped Mrs. Kristel Peterson and Mrs.

BYU Athletes Visit Brockbank Fourth Graders

Thursday, January 30, BYU athletes came to Brockbank to talk to fourth-graders about staying away from drugs. The athletes told students, "The Buff, Don't Puff!" They encouraged each of them to stay away from cigarettes and drugs. Each of the students were given a t-shirt with "Cougar Strong" to symbolize staying strong and to not do drugs.

Representative From Monte L Bean Life Science Museum Visits Brockbank

Brockbank recently had a representative, from Monte L Bean Life Science Museum come and talk to first and second graders. As part of a school outreach program, museum educator, Josh, came and gave students the opportunity to explore how and why scientists classify animals. Students got to group animals in different classifications like water, land, and air - and small, medium, and large, these were only two examples of ways the students classified several animals.

Brockbank First Graders Celebrate 100 Days of School!

Brockbank Elementary recently celebrated "100 Days of School!" Students celebrated this day in several different ways. First-graders used the number 100 in math skills like counting and place value; they wrote down 100 words that they have learned how to read and write this year; they drew pictures of what they would look like if they were 100 years old; they made cool glasses to wear; and they named 100 things you can eat and 100 things you cannot eat.
