Hello, Brockbank Families!

We are down to just the last couple of weeks of school.  It is pretty unbelievable that we are almost finished with another great year!  Thanks for your help and support with our end of year testing.  We finish up this week and  we are glad to have it behind us!

Track Meets:

May 16—6th Grade Track Meet

This meet will be held at the Spanish Fork football field.  Please make sure of the following things:

Your child is dressed for any kind of weather.

Your child knows if he/she will be eating school or home lunch.

Your child has sun screen and water.

We will be providing a sun tent for shade at Spanish Fork.

Parents, you are welcome to come to the field and support your child.  At Spanish Fork you may sit on the field, t please make sure you are respectful of the participants running and that you stay off the track.

5th Grade Walk for a Life:  Our fifth grade students have an awesome opportunity on Wednesday, May 17th, to be a part of a Walk for a Life Day.  Local Veterans will are coming together at Volunteer Park and will be telling stories and experiences from serving in their different Branches of the Armed Forces.  Our students will be rotating to each of these speakers, listening and learning from them.  The Kiwanis Club and many Veterans have worked especially hard to put this together.  There will also be displays that our students are sharing, National Guard vehicles and equipment, and a flag ceremony.  This will be a really great experience.  Please make sure that your child comes dressed for any kind of weather!

1st Grade Program:  Our little first grade students have been writing and reading to get ready for their program!  We are excited to see their accomplishments.   Their program will be Wednesday, May 17th, at 6:30.  Mrs. Bird’s class will be on the east side of the gym, Mrs. Noorda’s class will be in the lunchroom, and Mrs. Stewart’s class will be in the west side of the gym.

6th Grade Graduation:  We are so excited to celebrate the graduation of our 6th grade students!  This will be Tuesday, May 23rd at 5:00pm, in the auditorium!  We are very proud of our 6th grade boys and girls and wish them the very best as they move to Junior High School!

Last Day of Kindergarten will be Friday, May 19th!

Swimming Day: On the last day of school, (May 26th) we will be having  our annual swimming activity at the Spanish Fork Swimming Pool.  We will walk to the swimming pool soon after the bell rings.  There will be life guards at the pool. We will bring our busing students back to the school by 11:30 to catch the bus.  Our walking students will be back to school by noon.  Please make sure you child wears his/her swim suit under his/her clothing when he/she comes to school in the morning. Please make sure he/she has a towel, underwear and clothing to change into when he/she is done swimming.

As many of you know, there are 2 openings for teaching positions at our school.  We have one 5th grade and one 6th grade opening.  When these are filled, I will let parents know the names of the teachers in those positions.  I will also give a time-line for teacher requests ONLY FOR THESE TWO GRADE LEVELS.

Summer School: We are excited to offer a summer reading program this year at Brockbank Elementary.  The goal of our program is to keep students reading in the summer.   Summer school runs for seven weeks, beginning June 6th and running through July 20th.  Your child will be assigned to a 45 minute class that meets twice weekly on a Tuesday and Thursday mornings.  This means our first class is Tuesday, June 6th, and our last class is Thursday, July 20th.  (We will not have class on July 4th) You may pick up a registration form in the office.

This summer there are many opportunities for your child to take some fun ARTS classes.  Your child will be bringing a note home with some of these activities, and there are also flyers posted in the school windows that tell about each class offered!

We appreciate all you do to support our school!  We love your children!

Mrs. Nelson
