Hello, Brockank Families!

I hope you enjoyed your Labor Day and were able to do something fun with family and friends! It's always fun to have days when we can relax and enjoy the sunshine and blue skies!

I want to apologize for neglecting to welcome Mrs. Dimond's kindergarten class to school last week! We are so happy to have our little students in Mrs. Dimond's class here at Brockbank and know they will have a great year!

REFLECTIONS-2019-2020

LOOK WITHIN is the theme for this year's Reflection Contest! Have your child start his/her projects now! Reflections is an art program to celebrate the creativity of students. Students will reflect on the theme and then create an individual and original work of art in any or all of these categories- visual arts, literature, dance, film, photography, and music. There is also a special artist category for any students that might want to participate and have a special need. It is a fantastic way to help your child explore a talent or try something new! For information you can go to https://www.utahpta.org/reflections or email Cindy Shepherd at brockbankptareflections [at] gmail.com. Look for a flyer to come home with your child this week with more details! We can't wait to see the creativity of our students!

Early Morning Drop-Off

Parents, I just want to let you know our procedures for students before school begins. Our doors will always be open at 8:00 am or before. Children will wait in the lunchroom where they may read, draw, visit quietly, or do homework. Those students that are eating breakfast will be able to eat at around 8:15. At 8:25 we will announce that students may go to either their classroom, outside, or the gym if the weather is bad. Our first bell will ring at 8:40 and then the students will head to their classrooms!

Safety

Parents, please follow our school rules that we expect our students to follow! Please be an example! Here are some reminders:

*If you are picking up your child, you will need to park on 300 West. If you park on the east side, YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE YOUR CHILD CROSS AT THE INTERSECTION WITH THE CROSSING GUARD.

*If you want to park in the parking lot, you will need to park your car, then walk in and get your child.

*If you are coming into the school to get your students, please wait in the front entrance until the bell has rung.

We want to keep our students safe, and even though you may be with them, we need you to follow the rules as well.

FREE PARENT EDUCATION NIGHT

There will be a Parent Education Night with Dr. Hendershott, co-founder of Hope 4 The Wounded, on September 16, at 7:00, at SHHS. Dr. Hendershott is well-known for his work with the effects of trauma on learning and behavior. See the attachment for more information.

School Community Council

Parents, we are looking for parents that would like to serve on our School Community Council. We meet once a month and make important decisions about our school! We discuss the greatest needs of our school, how to effectively use our budget, and analyze our data about our school. We would love to have you involved. If you are interested, please come in and fill out the application for election.

Box Tops

Please also remember to keep collecting Box Tops! Students can bring in their Box Tops and give them to their classroom teachers!
