Hello, Brockbank Families!

We hope to see you at the PTA Carnival TONIGHT!   Bring the whole family and enjoy time together with family and friends! It will be from 5:00-8:00.  Tonight the wrist bands will cost $10.00.  The wrist band will let you participate in all the activities, including bounce houses, a dunk tank, fire trucks, pony rides, a train ride, and balloon art.   Food will be sold separately and includes pizza, nachos, cotton candy, snow cones, and drinks.  There will also be a bake sale!

Book Fair-BOGO:  We are excited to announce that we are having another Book Fair!  This Book Fair is especially awesome because it is Buy One Get One Free! The Book Fair will run until Friday, in room 13. The hours are 8:15-8:45, then 3:00-4:00.  Today it will be open until 3:00.

Box Tops: We are collecting Box Tops one more time before the school year ends!  Please watch for a Box Top Sheet for your child to glue Box Tops to and return it by May 18th.  The class with the most Box Tops will get a pizza party!!!

Freedom Walk:  On Wednesday, our 5th grade students have a special opportunity to go to Volunteer Park and meet with some very special Veterans.  This day is called the Freedom Walk.  Our 5th  grade students have all written about a Veteran that they have a connection with, and those written reports will be displayed as well.  This will be a fun and special day for our 5th grade students.

Track Meets:  Over the course of the next few weeks, we will be having our Track Meets for grades 3-6.  All the track meets will be at the Spanish Fork High School football field.  Here are the dates for those meets:
April 24-3rd Grade
May 1-4th Grade
May 8-6th Grade
May 15-5th Grade
Please make sure your child has water, comfortable clothing, good running shoes and a jacket.

We also want to let you know that unfortunately we will not be able to have summer school this summer!  Our school is undergoing a lot of updating and changing and we will be without power for a short period of time.  There will also be many workers here and with all the construction, we will not be able to have students here.  We are so sorry for the inconvenience.  However, Angie Killian, the principal at Riverview Elementary School, has offered to have our students go to their summer school if you are interested.  For more information, please call Riverview Elementary.

SAGE Testing:  We are testing each day and the students are really working hard.  Your child may not be testing every day, however, it is imperative that he/she is at school, whether his/her class is reviewing and/or testing.  If your child is going to be absent during this testing period, please notify your child’s teacher so he/she can make arrangements for alternate days of testing.  First and Second grades will be testing April 23-May 11th, and the Kindergarten Assessment will be May 21-25.

Math Lab:  Just a reminder that we have our Math Lab opened in the mornings before school, at 8:30.  Any student is welcome to come and practice math facts, use the online REFLEX program, or get help with math assignments!

PTA:  Parents, we need your help!  We need more parents to get involved with PTA!  This is such a great organization and the PTA does so much for our students, but we need all the help we can get!  We know it takes a village to raise a child, and PTA makes it possible to help make this happen!  PTA volunteers are there to support students make good progress with their academics, with activities, with needed items for our school, and with support for families.  Please come be a part of our PTA!  Contact Brenda Dudley for more information with how you can help!

Teacher Requests:  Our teachers work very hard to collaborate so that all students get the same lesson, activities, and experiences in that particular grade level.  Teachers analyze student work and assessments together so they can all play an important part in each student’s academic success.  Hopefully, you will understand that your child’s education will be the same in any teacher’s classroom on that grade level.   However, there are times when certain circumstances arise where parents feel the need to request a certain teacher/classroom for their child. Because of THOSE types of situations, we will be allowing teacher requests to be made from May 7th - May 18th.  Parents are able to fill out a form that is available in the office.  It is very important that you read the whole form.  Parents may choose between a teacher choice (you may give two teachers’ names that are EQUAL in choice) OR a request for your child to not be with another child in the same class.  No requests may be made before or after this time period given. After requests are made, there will be no changes to the requests made.  I also WILL NOT accept any requests made via email.   All requests must be made in the office.
