Hello, Brockbank Families!

Thanks to you who have brought pennies to school!  Our grade level buckets are filling up and getting heavy!  We appreciate your support for our Kid Power fundraiser!

Penny Wars:  Feb 20 – March 9
KIDS have the power to make a positive difference.  Please join the Kid Power committee at Brockbank Elementary to change the world.  Our project this year is to help the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.  This is the type that mostly affects children.  There are children in our school that deal with this disease.
Each grade will bring money to donate. All paper and silver coins in their cans will count for that grades total.  All the pennies put in that grade level can, will subtract from their total.  So put pennies in another classes can to stop them from beating your grade.  Put the silver and paper money in your class can to increase your total.  This is called a Penny War.  Our penny war will help find a cure for juvenile Diabetes.
We will start our project on February 20th and go through March 9th.  The grade level with the heaviest can on Feb 23 will get to have a dance party.  The grade level with the heaviest can on March 2 will get to run someone through their whip cream gauntlet.  The grade level that raises the most money by March 9 will get to have a flour bomb war.  This war is for good and we will have a lot of fun.  Start earning money to make a difference.

Dr. Seuss Day:  Our fun Dr. Seuss Day will be Friday, March 2nd!  The theme is “Grab your hat and read with the cat!”  Please send your child with a hat and a good book to read!

SDD:  March 5th will be the day for our teachers to have a district development day.   We appreciate your support for these days when we can work together to have professional development.  Our bus students will be dismissed at 11:30 and our walking students will be dismissed at noon.

Renaissance Fair:  March 7th will be our 6th Grade Renaissance Fair.  The 6th grade students have been working hard for this day and invite you to come from 12:00-2:00.

Dads and Doughnuts:  March 9th will be an early morning for those who want to come out for a doughnut and to see all the great books at our Book Fair!  It will begin at 7:15.  The Book Fair will run from March 9-March 15th.

SEP Conferences:  Our last SEP Conference will be March 15th.  Our teachers will be sending home reminder notes of your scheduled time.  We look forward to celebrating all of your child’s accomplishments!

Kindergarten PRE-Registration:  March 21st will be the day for our PRE-Registration for kindergarten students.  THIS IS NOT REGISTRATION FOR KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS.  We are just needing numbers so we can plan on class size and teachers.  Please make sure you come on that day if you have a child that will be in kindergarten for the 2018-19 school year.  Please spread the word to those who might have children this age!

Math Lab:  Just a reminder that we have our Math Lab opened in the mornings before school, at 8:30.  Any student is welcome to come and practice math facts, use the online REFLEX program, or get help with math assignments!
